What exactly is the difference between your final results and conventional "Up-Conversion" or "Blow-Up" methods?
A regular blow-up or conversion relies on simple interpolation, and therefore it does not provide any increase in the "true-optical-resolution". This means that the outcome will appear blurred on the HD screen, without the ability to distinct neither sharp nor small details. BetterView's solution is totally different: It is well-known that fusion of several low-quality frames can lead to a higher optical resolution. BetterView fulfills this potential and brings a highly detailed, sharp and crisp output video with an increased optical resolution.

What is "Super-Resolution"?
It has been known for the past 20 years that, in principle, one could take several low-quality images and fuse them into a single, higher-resolution outcome. This has been demonstrated by scientists, adopting various techniques and algorithms. The process is known as Super-Resolution (SR), which became a hot field in image processing, with thousands of academic papers published during the past two decades on the problem and ways to handle it. The classical approach to fuse the low-quality images requires finding an exact correspondence between their pixels, a process known as "motion estimation". Several years ago this field experienced a revolution, due to a breakthrough in the way to handle (or better yet, bypass altogether) the motion estimation. This new line of work was conceived and developed by Prof. Michael Elad and Dr. Matan Protter, among the founders of BetterView. This breakthrough set the stage for BetterView's solution.

Does the output format and quality fully comply with HDcontent?
Yes. The format is exactly HD, in any one of its possible forms, depending on the customer needs, The output quality of BettterView's solution depends on the raw data provided to it. Tests performed on various examples indicate that the result in most cases has a true HD resolution, and in some cases, even exceeds it.

Can you handle different aspect ratio (3:4, 9:16), both in input and output?
Our solution is able to handle various input formats including: interlaced/progressive, varying aspect ratios, frame-rates, compression formats, and more. Indeed, BetterView's solution is general and can handle unique / peculiar conversions just as easy. Thus, if you have HD content and desire to convert it to Super-HD, or if you would like to receive your output in a unique format (e.g: 1024 X 2048) - the same solution applies.

How quickly can I get the final results?
This depends on how much you are willing to pay. We can provide the final results within 24 hours, one week, or one month at the latest.

How do you cope with various compression methods of input and output material?
See answer to the question about aspect ratios above – our solution can handle various commonly used compression schemes.
Can you convert any video stream / no limitations?
The answer is yes, with the following reservation – if the source data is heavily corrupted, the HD outcome may be limited in resolution. Still, when viewing it, it will appear to be much more pleasant to view, compared to the origin.

Can you convert raw data from analogue origin?
Source data can come from two types of origins: either it was captured digitally in the first place, or it was sampled from the original film the movie was captured on. Either way, our system is able to handle the material and greatly improve its quality.
Furthermore, our system prefers the material to be as "raw" as possible - the less post-processing it has undergone, the better.

Do you have any special requirements for the input data?
As a rule of thumb – we'd like to get the highest quality of video you have, as close as this could be to the photography equipment. We could work with any source, but the better the input quality is, the better will be the final outcome. As an example, if your video has been compressed-decompressed several times, each such stage causes loss of visual information, which will pose difficulties on the SR process to succeed.
What's so unique in your technology in comparison with other Super-Resolution techniques?
BetterView relies on a robust and stable SR solution that works on ANY video sequence and in a fully automated way. We achieved that goal because we rely on the most recent motion-estimation-free SR technology.
